The
Ohio River Road Volunteer Fire Department proudly protects approximately
5600 people living in an area of approximately 65 square miles. We
operate out of one station that protects a primarily residential area.
Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer
status.
The Ohio River Road Volunteer Fire Department has provided fire and emergency services to residents of Lesage, WV, and surrounding communities since January 1966. The fire department is made up of 34 volunteers who respond to nearly 700 alarms annually. The fire department consists of one fire chief, one deputy chief, one assistant chief, two captains, two lieutenants, one safety officer and one public information officer. Other support personnel include a treasurer, a secretary, five civilian Board of Directors members, and several committee members, in addition to firefighters and emergency medical personnel.
The department serves the Ohio River Road Volunteer Fire Department Rural Fire Protection District which includes approximately 65 square miles in and around Lesage, WV. The rural fire protection district is bound by the City of Huntington, WV, to the southwest, the Ohio shoreline of the Ohio River to the west, Mason County, WV to the north and east, and the rural fire protection districts of Barboursville, Ona and Milton, WV, to the south.
