MVA with Entrapment August 11th,
2011
The Ohio River
Road VFD responded to a single vehicle roll-over with heavy entrapment.
The crash may have occurred over night and gone unnoticed for hours.
There was no evidence of an accident in the roadway and in the dark it
was nearly impossible to see. A passing truck driver called 911 shortly
after dawn.
R616 arrived first and requested assistance from Bar......boursville
and Huntington Fire Departments due to personnel shortages. Crews from
the 3 departments and Cabell County EMS worked for nearly 30 minutes to
free the victim. The driver was critically injured and rushed to the
nearest trauma center. ORRVFD remained on the scene for nearly 4 and a
half hours while the scene was investigated and cleaned up.
Units assigned: Chief 603, Chief 201, DC1, R616, R615, R11, R2, E5. Two
Cabell County EMS Squads and supervisor. CCSO and crash investigators.
